It was an afternoon of mixed feelings for the University of Lagos students as they watched the University’s male Football Team lost to MTN Football Scholars, 2-1 in the University’s Sports Centre.


The UNILAG Warlords played their first game of the week this afternoon but were unable to control the game after they conceded a goal just 15mins into the game. The first half ended 1-0 in favour of MTN FOOTBALL SCHOLARS.
The away team scored the second goal of the game after David Egbo capitalized on Salami Wakilu’s blunder. With just few minutes to the end of the game, the Warlords were awarded a penalty, Odeyemi Bolaji stepped forward and converted to reduce the goal margin by one.

Owolabi Ikuejurojo, UNILAG XI centre forward, was awarded the Most Valuable Player of the game with a cash prize of #250,000 and a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3. Filani Ayo, UNILAG XI midfielder, was awarded a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3, as the man of the match.
It  ended 2-1 and makes it the 2nd defeat for University’s Football Team this semester after 10 matches with 7 wins, 1 draw and a total of 16 goals scored, 5 conceded.
The team coach, Dr M.A Ogunsemoore, was disappointed with the outcome and was quick to highlight the players’ attitude to  training sessions as a cause for the defeat.
