The modern and multi-purpose conference centre opposite Chapel of resurrection, University of Ibadan has been renamed after Otunba Michael Olasubomi Balogun.

This step was taken in order to reward the benefaction of the FCMB founder to the growth of the institution, education and the nation. It will be made public in an event which would come up on Thursday.

In a letter signed by the Registrar, Mrs. Olubunmi Faluyi and sent to the founder, it was stated by the secretary to the governing council, Mrs Faluyi that “We acknowledge with gratitude, your prayers and goodwill for the continuous progress of the University.”

Otunba Michael Balogun was the first Board Chairman of UI Ventures, who transformed the organisation into a large business group with his business discernment.

In the hotel arm of the University of Ibadan venture’s, there are up to 110 rooms in number with a sterling prosaic smattered with various activities like printing, landscaping and horticulture, consulting, bakery products, computer training center, petrol station and fast food business.

Balogun applauded the institution for its decision to bestow such honor on him, saying “I thank you for appreciating my services and commitment to the University of Ibadan by this recent honour that you bestowed on me.

I feel honoured by and I deeply appreciate the long and personal relationship I have had with the University of Ibadan over the years. It is my prayer that the University will continue to retain the position of a primus-inter-pares among the tertiary institutions in Nigeria.’’
