The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Ogun State Chapter ably led by Comr. Bamgbose Tomiwa said ‘Today’s celebration, a call for sober reflection………’ To be independent means to be self sufficient in production of food, in generating employment opportunities proportionate to the working population of the country, ensuring the security of lives and properties of citizens in and outside the country, giving quality, free and assessable education to citizens of the country.
The Ogun State NANS Chairman mentioned that, ‘The greatness of our country is a collective responsibility of every body. Our leaders should embrace the spirit of oneness and they should be dedication to the reasons of being elected into political offices. The citizens should be responsible at all times, law abiding and most importantly we should stand to fight against the corrupt practices of our leaders that has continue to infringe pain on we Nigerians. Let us not sit back and watch the efforts of our great heroes who fought passionately for the independence of this country with all they have to be in vain.
Enough of we keeping mute in the face of injustice and tyranny, let’s be brave and courageous enough to do the right thing that will restore the lost glory of our country.
On this note, I hereby charge and challenge every responsible and well meaning Nigerians to arise and collectively, let us demand and agitate for a better governance of our great country Nigeria, a governance of positive change, a governance that will usher in greatness and prosperity for all irrespective of our culture, tribe and race.
Congratulations to all Nigerians as we today celebrate 59 years of independence.
