Clorets, in collaboration with the Students’ Union Government, The Polytechnic, Ibadan, hosted the grand finale for the Campus Rhymes showdown on 1st August, 2019 at the Sport Pavillion, North Campus of the institution.

The rhymes competition featured students rapper of The Polytechnic, Ibadan. The competition which should host the hip hop musician with the stage name, Small Doctor, started with registration of candidates from Monday, 29th of July, before the Grand Finale on Thursday, 1st of August.

Ten rappers who registered for the day’s contest were called on stage to perform, after which five were disqualified by the audience as ordered by the MC. The SUG’s social director afterwards gave his speech following a short interlude by some groups. In his speech, he acknowledged the presence of all the students and also promised more events like such. Rounding up his speech, he announced that the guest artist, Small Doctor, would in no time be available.

The final round saw three winners, a male rapper known as Mizzy Legend coming third with a cash price of twenty thousand naira, Boy J, a female rapper, coming second winning fifty thousand naira, while the first position tagged with a cash price of one hundred thousand naira was awarded to a rapper named T Swag.

The event came to an end with a vote of thanks by the MC, announcement of the absence of the guest artist, Small Doctor, which seemed to pain every student as that (guest artist) constituted the main reason many students were present.
