The media briefing which was scheduled for 5pm did not start until 5:39pm with the address of the chairman of the Committee, Moyosore Adebanjo, who reeled out the essence of the award as an opportunity to celebrate the plethora of talents which encompasses academic and non academic strides.

Moyosore who is also the chairman of Biobaku Hall, claimed that the award is a brain child of University of Lagos Students’ Union. Jamie Fabuyi, a student of Law who is also a member of the committee, believes that the process will be unbiased, that the nomination form will be shared on the basis of 25 percent per faculty and that the forms will be serialized for the sake of security.
She enumerated about 6 categories in the award namely: Impact Award, Leadership Award,Social Enterprise and so on, including a post humous Award which will be in honour of former Vice Chancellor of University of Lagos, Prof. Sofoluwe. Facebook, twitter, and Instagram accounts have been activated for the promotion of the award.

Among those present were the president of the Union, Martins Abiodun, the Social Secretary, Opadoja Michael, and members of the Press. In tackling the questions, Moyosore, jamie and Abiodun answered to the delight of guests as the question passed through the reason for the post humous award, the fairness of the process, inclusion of the one for the physically challenged, the need to award religious bodies, etc.

The questions were duly shared for effectivebanswers. Jamie explained how impossible it is to compromise, by telling the audience to ignore individuals who may want to manipulate the process the Information Technology Unit of the Unit claimed it was an impossibility going by its security measures.

Abiodun defended the inclusion of Late Sofoluwe for a post humous award for his outstanding strides while he was the Vice chancellor. Jamie, also believes that physically challenged were not discriminated from being nominated, as they will authorise faculty presidents to circulate the 25 percent effectively in order to meet the desired goal.
The award is slated for 2nd of October in Multi Purpose Hall, after a careful consideration of other venues on campus.
