The senate president, Falola Ahmed expressed his disappointment and displeasure describing the situation as a threat to life and unjust victimization in a letter forwarded to the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, Police State Headquarters Eleyele, Ibadan.
He furthermore described the students affairs unit of the school as incompetent to handle the issues plaguing students activism.
He said “With utmost sincerity, the leadership of all the 84 federal and state owned universities across Nigeria writes to show our displeasure against the Management of LAUTECH most especially the Directorate of Students Affairs, who has been biased and found incompetent to handle the affairs of the students populace.
Our attention has been drawn to 12 students of LAUTECH Ogbomoso who have been given letter of rustication/expulsion on Friday, this came at a die minute when they are supposed to start their final year examinations on Monday, indeed we were aware that this act was unjust, non-stupendous and highly political motivated. We have extended our plea to the management but all to no avail”
He furthermore raised alarm over moves by the management to disrupt their activities on Monday saying “We are also aware that members of the management have sponsored Cultist to attack us on Monday yet we refuse to be intimidated”.
However, he pleaded with the Commissioner of Police to support their peaceful protest against the injustice, He said “We hereby seek your fatherly support and intervention as we embark on peaceful Protest against the tyrannical act of the LAUTECH Management. You are our father and we are law abiding but we won’t sit down, fold our arms as injustice rape justice in a broad day light”.
