The maiden edition of Miss Upper East which took place at the region’s capital, Bolgatanga over the weekend generated a lot of excitement among patrons.
Being the first beauty pageant to give an opportunity to ladies across the region to vie for one enviable crown in the name of the region, the event was well patronised; much to the surprise of many, considering that it was the first of its kind.
Miss Rakia Bukari, a final year Nursing student distinguished herself among 11 contestants across the country to emerge, winner of the maiden edition. Miss Mary Ababila, come up as the 1st runner-up while Miss Prospera Abugri came up as the 2nd Runner-up.
For the prizes, the winner took home a motorbike, the 1st runner-up got a laptop while the 2nd runner-up took away a 32 inches Plasma satellite Television.
The event which was graced by the Upper East Regional Minister, Rockson Bukari, was largely a blend of cultural display and entertainment aimed at promoting peace and unity in the region.
2014 Ghana Most Beautiful winner, Poka, who has been an ambassador of the pageant was also in attendance to grace the occasion.
The event was organised by Ayelbis Entertainment with support from Onaapo Atadwe Ginger and others.
The night also saw the Bongo based music group, Rockcity, honoured for their contribution towards the development of the entertainment industry in the region.
