The students of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology made another sweeping victory at the Oyomesi Hackathon over the weekend, with several dominating the winning teams and securing N1 million and a one-week training trip to London.
The environment- and technology-focused hackathon which is the first of its kind in Oyo state had participants from various higher institutions across Nigeria.
After rounds of hacking and ideas pitching, Team ENUMA which had seven members, four of whom are Ladokites, emerged as the first position.
Representing LAUTECH on Team ENUMA were Aderinto Segun Israel (LAUTECH Alumni), Adebayo Komolafe (500L Biochemistry), Adedigba Tominsin ( 500L), Oluwasusi Victor Adedeji ( 500L).
Their project was focused on creating an app to solve the problem of Property Enumeration in Oyo state, which is a major challenge in tracking waste production and management.
“We built an app that will help enumerate facilities in Oyo state because if we don’t enumerate, there’s no way to know the amount of waste generated per facility,” Adebayo explained.
“Using our app which also works offline, agents can enumerate a property by taking a picture, filling the details like Local Government Area, submitting the property, and then it shows on the map.”
