Australian High Commissioner to hold interactive session with students of the University of Lagos (Unilag)
On 22 July 2015, the Australian High Commissioner, HE Jonathan Richardson, will host an interactive session with students of the University of Lagos, Akoka.
The High Commissioner will speak on “Australia’s place in the world and its bilateral engagement with Nigeria”, and will provide the audience with an overview of Australia, its politics, history, geography, culture, and foreign policy. He will also invite the students to attend the Australia Future Unlimited West Africa Education Exhibition to be held in Lagos in September. The Exhibition will take place at the Eko Hotel, Victoria Island on 25 September and the Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja on 26 September and will provide Nigerian students with an opportunity to engage with Australian Universities and learn more about opportunities for pursuing postgraduate study in Australia.
During his visit to Unilag, the High Commissioner will also engage with students through university-based media, including the campus radio. The High Commissioner expresses his gratitude to the management of Unilag, and its Vice Chancellor, Professor Rahamon Bello, for facilitating the session.
The High Commissioner considers the talk as “an excellent opportunity to bring Australia, as well as Australian postgraduate opportunities, to the consciousness of Unilag students. There are around 1,300 Nigerian students studying in Australia this year, and we hope this number continues to grow”.
