Scores of Students from Federal University of Agricultural, Abeokuta, FUNNAB have expressed their displeasure and dissatisfaction over the aborted scheduled DJ Enimoney tour as planned to hold in the school, Students who were disappointed over the absence of infamous DJ, known for his excellent skills.
In disc jokey and the retinue of top notch artists which were billed to perform on campus ranted on social media.
The OWL Campus Correspondents gathered that before the school resumed for the session, graphics were already flying over social media about the show, partners and deals were sealed and all parties involved were gearing up for what could be the greatest music concert to be held in FUNAAB.
Earlier before the proposed event, DJ Enimoney assured that he was coming with the creators of the Shaku Shaku dance wave, DJ Enimoney also made it known he would be coming with the originators of the wobey sound.
Idowest and Slimcase were confirmed for the event and alongside the two YBNL acts, Limerick and Lyta coupled with Lil Kesh in which the Ceremonial building was billed for a shutdown. The Students expressed dissatisfaction with over inability to witness performance from some of Nigeria’s best entertainers.
It was further gathered that the students Union Governments involvement was part of what hampered the event, there were claims that “The SUG wanted a share of the gate fees and since they were the paramount students’ body, we obliged. Thing is other students’ unions in other schools that the Tour held didn’t even ask for a dime.”
“After agreeing on the cut, the SUG social secretary didn’t show readiness in helping the team to secure the proposed venue and with the school strict with the use of ceremonial building for social activities, running the proposal through the SUG would help propel the cause but the social sec wasn’t forthcoming and since the event was just weeks away, and putting other factors into consideration, we decided to cancel it.” All efforts to reach the SUG social secretary to hear his side of the story proved abortive as he said he was busy.
Some of the upcoming and rising talents on campus who felt bad with the whole scenario, took to the Social media to vent their anger, a student said “Don’t go to Funaab, you would run at a loss”.
While schools like Unilag, UI and Uniben often experience the best talents in the industry coming down to their schools, it just seems we are content listening to them from our phones.
We might never have any top notch artistes coming to Funaab. Can Reekado Banks ever think of coming to Funaab again? Lil Kesh didn’t even fill half of Yakub. We might just continue to have deadbeat artistes coming for our SUG night. We might just have Skuki and DJ Zeez coming back again”
“I felt disappointed and I still do,” says The RealiBK, a popular PR expert in Funaab. “Since the tour was announced in February, I had been super hyped for this event and super excited for the entire Funaab Music Industry, but this time, we were let down.”
