Osun Poly Management Shut Down Campus Indefinitely Following Students Protest.

The management of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree have announced the immediate closure of the institution till further notice on Saturday, 1st June, 2019.

The decision of the management was as a result of the protest staged by some students of the institution over the death of one Mr Sheu Aminu Hammed, an HND 1 student of Applied Chemistry in the institution.

The deceased was said to have slumped while writing one of his paper for the second semester examination.

Sources, however said the protesting students have destroyed the school Health Centre as well as some medical equipment and stage a protest on the school premises over dissatisfaction with the poor services received by the dying student at the institution’s health centre before he was referred to another hospital in Iree town where he gave up the ghost.

In a circular released by the management of the institution and signed by the Registrar, all students are to vacate the school premises with immediate effect.

SARS officer allegedly kills student of Osun state polytechnic

A student of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, was allegedly shot dead by a SARS officer in Osun State.

The deceased, Babatunde Nafiu was reportedly shot dead at about 9 pm on Thursday evening in Iwo town, Osun State.

An eyewitness claimed that they were looking for a bike man around Ajangbala, area in Iwo town, on their way home, before the SARS officer allegedly attacked them and shot Babatunde. He died on the spot.

It has been revealed that police officers have been taken into custody, following the shooting of a student in Iwo, Osun State, on Thursday.

Abayomi Shogunle, Assistant Commissioner of Police and Head of the Police Public Complaints Rapid Response Unit (PCRRU), made this known on Friday via his Twitter handle.

The student, Tunde Omologo, was shot at Ajangbala Eleha at Iwo yesterday. It is still unclear what led to the shooting.

According to the PCRRU. the Osun Commissioner of Police held a meeting with relatives and the community earlier on Friday.

According to Shogunle, who condemned the shooting, two police officers are in custody, and investigations are ongoing.
