Following the reports on Monday that 20 students feared dead as a two-story building collapsed in Kano University Science and Technology, the Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Professor Shehu Alhaji Musa, has dismissed it as a false report.
Speaking at a press conference, held at the NUJ Press Centre Kano, he said, only five persons sustained injuries, while no life was lost during the incident.
He further explained that of the five injured, two had already been discharged, while only one suffered a fracture.
His words: ”No student sustained any injury during the building collapse. We want to assure parents that our students are safe.
“Immediately after the incident, we mobilised security agencies and Health workers from within and outside the University Community to the scene of the incident,” the VC added.
It will be recalled that the building which collapsed on Monday was donated to the university by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND).
The university is located in Wudil, a local government in Kano state, it was known as Kano University of Technology, Wudil and has been renamed as Kano University of Science and Technology.
