The management team of Adeyemi College of Education(ACE) Ondo on Monday paid appreciation visit to the lawmaker representing Ondo Central District, Senator Tayo Alasoadura for facilitating the upgrade of the College into University of Education.

The Upper Chamber last Thursday passed the bill into law, signifying the raising of the college to University status.

Alasoadura, who is also the Chairman, Senate’s Committee on Petroleum Resources(Upstream) facilitated the bill.

The excited visitor wereas led by the College’s Provost, Prof Olukoya Ogen supported by other top management’s team.

Prof Ogen, who spoke on behalf of the chairman, Governing Council of the College,Prof Nathaniel Ohazurike noted that Senator Alasoadura played an active role at the Senate to ensure the passage of the bill.

He said posterity would remember the lawmaker for his determination and courage on the new status of the college.

The Provost said” we are glad to hear the soaring news,we are solidly behind Senator Alasoadura in his efforts to render services to humanity,we will be celebrating him very soon for this gesture”.

The College administrator urged the lawmaker to continue doing his best to the society.

Alasoadura said the urge to facilitate the passage of the bill was place on him by his late, Mrs Adetayo Alasoadura, who was from Ondo town.

According to him, he had to lobby his colleagues to ensure the passage of the bill.

According to him”The bill would have been passed six months ago but there was no financial provision because of the delay in the 2018 budget”.

He however enthused that N2b has been approved for the take-off of the University,assuring that it would be listed before the Senate go on long break.

Alasoadura disclosed that efforts were on to also upgrade the Federal College of Agriculture, Akure (FECA) to a University for the benefit of the Community.

The Students Union President,Zubair Taofeek on behalf of the 20,000 students thanked the Senator for his noble efforts.
